Job Development & Placement

We provide job leads and schedule interviews

Job Development and Placement

Program participants who are ready to work will receive comprehensive, one-on-one or small group assistance in the entire job search process:

Resume development
Writing cover letters and other correspondence
Accessing the job market
Interviewing techniques
Labor market information
Telephone skills practice (at our front desk, with our receptionist)
Mounting an effective job search

We provide job leads and schedule interviews. Those who prefer company in the interview are accompanied. Those who simply need a ride to the interview and a pep talk are provided with such. We schedule informational interviews with employers who will give accurate feedback about the applicant's placement potential and presentation.

When appropriate, we provide follow up with employers after the interview and assistance with orientation to the new job. If needed, dk Advocates job coaches may visit and work side-by-side with the new employee to increase job retention. This support is “faded out” as the employee gains confidence and familiarity with the job requirements. dkA works with employers to provide employer incentives such as WOTC (Work Opportunity Tax Credit), wage reimbursement, and provision of adaptive equipment or assistive technology.

Worksites

Many people find it difficult to qualify for the jobs they want due to limited work experience. For over 20 years dk Advocates has provided community-based, small group paid work experience programs, each supervised by an on-site Worksite Supervisor.

Resume Development

Part of our Job Development and Placement program includes Resume Development. This is includes teaching the client how to prepare and write a resume. If the client should need it we can also type the resume for them. We provide job leads and schedule interviews. Those who prefer company in the interview are accompanied.

Training

dk Advocates provides training and prepares program participants for a career in office work, such as receptionist, data entry, clerical, database maintenance, document conversion, etc.
