Betty Seery has over 12 years of experience in the field of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and is a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner. She comes to dkA from La Frontera Centers Inc. where she served for eight years as the Program Coordinator for client employment services. Betty was instrumental in the development of a comprehensive employment program for clients with serious mental illness. The program increased employment opportunities for clients through community job development and by carving out positions within La Frontera as well as the creation of a small business. La Frontera received statewide recognition for their innovative employment services for clients at the Arizona State University, College of Public Programs Summer Institute. The employment services program encompassed the research that people with mental illness fare better if they are working, and the presence of symptoms is not an indicator of success in the workplace. Betty has also been a volunteer with the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) of Southern Arizona and frequently asked to be a guest speaker at mental health conferences and outreach programs.
